This in-depth assessment builds upon our organisational audit, takes a more strategic perspective, includes an assessment of leadership, management, innovation and organisational responsiveness. The assessment obtains both qualitative and quantitative feedback by enabling each participant to add their own notes and has been designed to provide your management team with an overall assessment of your implementation of best practice.

The audit assesses your progress towards best practice in –

  • Strategic Governance
  • Financial Viability & Sustainability
  • Adaptive Leadership
  • Organisational Management
  • Workforce Development
  • Outcomes Focus
  • Organisational Technology
  • Innovation
  • Collaboration
  • Organisational Responsiveness

This assessment has been adapted from a audit tool developed by the New Zealand Ministry of Social Development for social agencies. I worked with nonprofit organisations in New Zealand applying this assessment between 2014-2016. Each section comprises 5-7 questions. All questions are rated on a 4 point experiential/best practice scale, seeking the participants assessment of the stage of development within your organisation –

  • 1 = aspirational, not yet in place
  • 2 = emerging, lacks capability
  • 3 = consolidating, still room for improvement
  • 4 = transformative, best practice

A unique feature of the assessment is the organisational responsiveness. In addition to assessing overall responsiveness to stakeholders, there is an assessment of responsiveness to selected community groups, including –

  • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander
  • Refugee & Migrant communities
  • Children & Young People
  • People with Disabilities

The aim of this audit is to start a conversation among your people. It is a straightforward audit which doesn’t take people long to complete, can be undertaken by individuals or groups of people creating a collective assessment.

Following assessment, all responses are collected and analysed for trends and feedback. A report is prepared showing results in both graphical and tabular form and all written comments as provided by participants.

A draft of the report is circulated to all participants, who then gather to discuss the collective feedback, prioritise future actions and prepare an action plan. This action plan is then incorporated into a final version of the report.

I am then available to remain engaged with your team, monitor implementation, provide coaching and mentoring and collect evidence of progress and success, if requested.*

*Ongoing engagement of this nature is not included in the audit fee. It is an extra cost which will be quoted upon request.
